This tour takes in the best the North Island has to offer from the MTB Mecca of Rotorua with 100km of purpose built single track though to the remote wilderness areas of the central North Island with names like “The Forgotten Highway” and “The Bridge to Nowhere”, rides that have labels stating “the longest continuous native forest ride in the country” or “one of the best adventure rides in the country”. We take you along “The Timber Trail” a newly opened track with 8 purpose built suspension bridges to save you getting your feet wet, one of which is 140m long and 50m above the forest below, this ride covers 80km over two days. Plenty of shorter rides to sample along the way
This shorter guided MTB tour concentrates on riding around our capital city, Wellington. Renowned for the Makara Peak MTB Park where track building started in 1998, now with over 40km of hand built trails. Wellington also has had many more super single tracks built all around the city which extend high into the surrounding hills and on over to the south coast. And a short trip out of the city takes you to some very wild and remote locations offering big climbs, a 7km downhill and some bike-n-hike options to keep you honest.
We take in the best the South Island has to offer from Nelson in the north through to Queenstown in the south. Big South Island high country riding up around 2000 metres, visits to old gold mining towns with 22 creek crossings each way, a great ride on a hot day. Skinny single track clinging to the side of a 60° scree slope, big rides high in the mountains with wide open spaces and huge river valleys. Helicoptor flight up to the top so that you can take in the views and then it's downhill all the way. (Heli-biking trip subject to weather conditions and minimum numbers).
On this guided MTB tour we take you to all the best trails in the upper part of the South Island from Christchurch up into the high country, over to the Wild West Coast which now includes The West Coast Wilderness Trail, one or two days of wilderness adventure and further north for some premium riding around Nelson and remote riding through the Marlborough Sounds.
Water taxis, Inter Island Ferries, jet boat rides and heli-biking trip are all options on this guided MTB tour, and as we are not expecting you to be super-human and ride from dawn till dusk every day there will be plenty of chances to go sightseeing along the way. Somewhere or something you want to see or do… then we will try and fit that in on passing. FLEXIBILITY is the word on this tour, a particular ride you have read about; we’ll see what we can do. Weather not so good on the west coast, then we head east, windy in the high country, then we will find some sheltered riding.
